TECHEETAH

The first Chinese-French motor racing team in the Formula E championship

The fruit of a partnership between GREEN AXXE and the Chinese media giant CMC (China Media Capital) through its subsidiary SECA (Sport Entertainment Content Activation), Techeetah is competing in the third season of the motor racing championship for electric single-seaters. This “zero carbon, zero waste” competition is attracting increased numbers of car manufacturers, including major brands Audi, Jaguar, Renault and BMW. Mercedes has also signed an agreement giving them the “option” to join the series’ fifth season in 2018.

Formula E, which takes place in city-centre locations (including Paris, Berlin and New York) to highlight its non-polluting DNA, has support from a number of celebrities who are committed to sustainable development, such as Prince Albert of Monaco and the actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Thanks to government support and environmental necessity, Chinese groups are investing heavily in the “green economy”. According to IEA forecasts, a third of China’s power will be produced by solar and wind initiatives by 2021.

The country possesses the world’s largest automotive market, which intends to pre-position itself in the New Energy Vehicles (NEV) sector, and Beijing’s formal industrial strategy is to produce five million electric vehicles by 2020.

Techeetah, which replaced Team Aguri after purchasing the squad in 2016, is a prime example of this thinking being put into action in a high-profile setting. The team aims to be at the forefront of the discipline with an experienced racing line up, led by the Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne, who competed in 58 Formula 1 Grands Prix, alongside the Mexican Esteban Gutierrez, who competed in 59 Formula 1 Grands Prix.

GREEN AXXE is also a team shareholder, and is therefore actively involved in the team’s board and management, mobilising all the operational resources of its consulting and marketing divisions.
